To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Australia's international peacekeeping efforts this aluminium bronze $1 coin was released by the Royal Australian Mint in 2007.
In 1947 Australia provided the first United Nations peacekeepers for service in Indonesia. Over 30 000 Australians have served in over fifty international peacekeeping missions since then. Peacekeepers have come from the army navy and air force the police and civil organisations compassionately assisting many people whose lives have been affected by conflict.
