The Royal Australian Mint has released the second issue in its Australia’s Coat of Arms series inspired by the New South Wales (NSW) Coat of Arms.
Rich with historic significance, the 2022 1oz 99.9% silver $1 features the lion and pointed stars from the NSW Coat of Arms on obverse. The British Cross divides the background, which includes eight British Tudor roses.
The coin's reverse is undeniably Australian and features a kangaroo, Merino sheep, wheat and the waratah - the floral emblem for NSW. Surrounding the NSW banner is each state's floral emblems while the rays of the rising sun are depicted as stylised wattle.
