In 2003, a flagpole which had stood above the Perth Mint building since 1901 was withdrawn from service. The oregon timber was meticulously sliced to form 220 circular presentation blocks which were sold with a 1901 Perth Mint sovereign as 'Flagpole Editions'. Each block was laser engraved with a unique serial number.
