These beautiful creatures play an important role in the ecosystem as pollinators, taking care of herbs and vegetables such as artichokes, basil, beans and cabbage, as well as pollinating flowering plants such as milkweed, asters, coneflowers, butterfly bushes, lavender and sunflowers. The coin’s reverse portrays three butterflies gracefully pollinating grevillea foliage. Each butterfly is depicted showcasing remarkable and unique markings. As well as a ribbon scroll with the inscription ‘BUTTERFLY’, the reverse includes the coin’s weight, purity, 2025 year-date, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s monetary denomination.
