On 1 July 1915 the Commonwealth of Australia officially accepted responsibility from the state government for all landfall and coastal lights around Australia. Today the Australian Maritime Safety Authority is responsible for
maintaining aids to navigation at some 388 sites around 37 600 kilometres of Australian coastline.
Commemorating the Centenary dated 2015 the Royal Australian Mint together with Australia Post have issued a Philatelic Numismatic Cover (PNC) consisting of an al/bronze $1 and 4 x 70¢ postage stamps postmarked 16 June 2015 Safety Bay WA 6169.
The mint has also struck an uncirculated 99.9% pure silver $5 and a uncirculated al/bronze $1.
