In August 2015 Australia hosted the world's pinnacle netball championship the 14th Netball World Cup at Sydney Olympic Park. Held every four years since the world cup's inception in 1963 Australia previously hosted the Netball World Cup on two occasions in Perth in 1967 and in Sydney in 1991.
On the 16 August Australia defeated the New Zealand Silver Ferns and took their third straight title in a 58-55 show down in front of a world record crowd of 16 752 at Allphones Arena.
Issued by the Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post to commemorate the Netball World Cup this PNC features a cupro-nickel 20¢ coin and is accompanied by a 70¢ postage stamp postmarked 4th August 2015 Sydney NSW 2000.
