The Story

The New Hebrides were discovered by the Portuguese in 1606 and named by British navigator Captain James Cook in 1774.

Struck in 1966 this crown size silver 100 Francs in EF-UNC condition is the only silver coin ever to be struck for New Hebrides (now Vanuatu).

The obverse features Liberty wearing Phrygian cap and the reverse depicts a totem pole (a ritual artifact with animals or faces carved into wood).
